About LaGrange Film Academy

LaGrange Film Academy was created to bring real film and acting education to Troup County and surrounding communities, giving kids, teens, and adults the opportunity to learn storytelling, performance, and filmmaking in a hands-on, supportive environment.

At its core, this academy is built on one belief: storytelling has the power to change lives.

Whether in front of the camera or behind it, students are encouraged to explore creativity, build confidence, and develop real-world skills used in today’s film and media industry.

Led by Industry Experience

LaGrange Film Academy is led by Krista O’Connor, an award-winning filmmaker, writer, director, producer, actress, cinematographer, and editor with extensive experience across film, television, documentary, commercial, music video, and live production.

Her work includes directing and producing feature films, working on SAG productions, and collaborating with professional actors and industry talent. She also serves as a camera operator for live production at Trilith Live and has worked in nearly every role of filmmaking — from writing and directing to editing, cinematography, and production management.

This real-world experience is at the heart of every class taught at the academy.

Hands-On, Real-World Learning

At LaGrange Film Academy, students don’t just study film, they create it.

Classes are designed to be interactive and project-based, allowing students to learn by doing. Acting students work on camera through scene study, improvisation, and performance exercises. Filmmaking students learn how to develop ideas, operate cameras, understand lighting and sound, and bring stories to life from concept to screen.

Every class is built to reflect how real film productions operate.

For Kids, Teens, and Adults

LaGrange Film Academy offers classes for all ages and experience levels.

Young students build confidence, creativity, and communication skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Teen and adult students gain practical, industry-relevant training that can be applied to acting, content creation, filmmaking, and professional media work.

Whether a student is stepping into acting for the first time or already pursuing creative goals, there is a place for them here.

Building a Creative Community

This academy was founded not only to teach film, but to build opportunity.

For too long, aspiring creatives in smaller communities have had limited access to professional-level film education. LaGrange Film Academy exists to change that by bringing high-quality instruction, mentorship, and hands-on production experience locally.

Our goal is to grow a creative community where students can collaborate, express themselves, and discover their voice through storytelling.

More Than Classes

At LaGrange Film Academy, students gain more than technical skills.

They develop confidence, teamwork, communication, leadership, and creative problem-solving — skills that extend far beyond the screen and into every part of life.
